Neill Blomkamp Admits Chances Are “Slim” To See His ‘Alien 5’ Happen

Jan 23, 2017

Writer-director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) has finally commented on the future of Alien 5 as spotted by AVP Galaxy. Sigourney Weaver has been quite vocal about her desire to do it and James Cameron who pulled her away for the Avatar sequels had read the script and admitted during Comic-Con that he really liked it.

However, Neill’s response is blunt and doesn’t really expand upon the short response given to this curious fan.

The problem could be coming from Ridley Scott‘s competing new Alien trilogy and might have more to do with Alien: Covenant potential success. Unless the idea here is that Scott is looking to cannibalize Blomkamp’s script into his wave of films.

Then again, with news that James Cameron could be godfathering a new Terminator film with Tim Miller directing Jim could do the same with Neill’s Alien 5. Cameron throws a lot of weight at Fox after Avatar’s massive success which led to the hiring of Robert Rodriguez (not in the best graces with studios) on his former project Alita: Battle Angel.

Jim’s positive reaction to the script could mean he very well could support Blomkamp when the time comes to do so.
