As a longtime Alien saga fan, it’s crazy that we’ll be getting two franchises set in the same cinematic universe, Ridley Scott focusing on his engineers and Neill Blomkamp resurrecting the xenomorphs in Alien 5.
We don’t really know too much about what’s going on with Blomkamp’s film, as he’s just developing drafts as we speak. Except a few details picked-up from his concept art that he posted on Instagram earlier this year. It looked like Weyland-Yutani finally got their hands on the xenomorphs, and we’d see the return of Ellen Ripley.
Another thing that was noticeable in the concept art was the inclusion of Corporal Dwayne Hicks played by Michael Biehn. It remains to be seen of Hicks will indeed be apart of the film due to his death in Alien 3, but the video game Aliens: Colonial Marines left a window for him to return.
Speaking of the marines, Blomkamp just posted an image on his account that shows a modernized version of the pulse rifle from Aliens, that very well might be a prop developed for the film.
Could he be teasing us that the Colonial Marines might be returning for his installment?
