Netflix has officially renewed their bilingual cocaine crime series Narcos for seasons three and four, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Pedro Pascal‘s DEA Agent Javier Pena will likely have to carry the weight of the show, now that Wagner Moura’s Escobar is out of the picture. Unless they reveal an equally intense new villain, and they’ve planted some of those seeds already.
I’ve loved both series, but it’s hard to justify Boyd Holbrook’s Murphy reason for being the main narrator or the focus of the show. He’s pretty much useless in the show, while Pascal’s Javier Pena is doing all the leg-work in the show. They need to focus on Pena or give Murphy more to do in the next two seaons.
It’s expected the next to seasons will focus on the DEA going after the Cali Cartel. I have to assume season three will be ready to be dropped on Netflix by next fall.
