Netflix’s ‘Layer Cake’ Sequel Series ‘Viva La Madness’ Shoots March-August In The UK

Feb 9, 2018

A sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s Layer Cake based on the J.J. Connolly book Viva La Madness has been in the works for years and we finally have an update to share.

Omega Underground has learned from local sources when and where the slick comedic British gangster series for Netflix will be filming. Madness is expected to shoot from mid-March to the end of August at Shepperton Studios in the UK.

The original had the nameless cocaine drug dealer hero played by a pre-Bond Daniel Craig other future stars among the cast included a young Tom Hardy and Sally Hawkins. It’s been expected for years that Jason Statham would be taking over Craig’s role. In the series, he’ll be relaxing in the Caribbean when he’s pulled out of retirement by two London gangsters, Sonny King and Twitchy. It’s unknown who’ll be taking those roles.

It’s been reported for years that Welcome To The Punch’s Eran Creevy would be directing. Punch is a nifty little action flick starring Mark Strong and James McAvoy, which I highly recommend.

Statham seemingly still attached as the lead would suggest he’ll be too busy with Madness to film Expendables 4 over the summer or Hobbs and Shaw (expected to be delayed due to Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise).

An air date for Viva La Madness hasn’t been announced.
