New COLOSSUS Possibly Confirmed For ‘Deadpool’ Via Set Photo

Apr 12, 2015

It was confirmed a while back that actor Daniel Cudmore would be replaced as Colossus if he showed-up in Tim Miller’s Deadpool. The assumption being that producers and Fox have grander plans for the character, possibly rebooting him to include his Russian origins which were ignored in his four appearances. His powerful sister Magik has also been left-out of the films who could finally get her shot at joining the franchise. Colossus had been featured in the original draft of the Deadpool script but it was unknown if he had been replaced with the recent rewrites or switched-out with Cable.

However, a new set photo via @lwrnceofarabia who has been sending photos to CBM seemingly shows an unknown actor in a motion capture suit with a possible bust of the character Colossus on the Vancouver set. We’ve seen stunt busts used for motion capture characters in the past with The Thing in Fantastic Four, Hulk in Avengers, and Ultron in Age of Ultron. It’s not official until the studio say it’s him or we get better pictures, but it’s looking like we’re getting the character reboot of Colossus in Deadpool.

At the time of posting CBM hadn’t added this image.

Thanks to Harry for bringing this to our attention.

UPDATE: Just Jared has posted clearer images of the image we first posted including a better look at the bust, and the rather large motion capture actor mingling with Ryan Reynolds and Brianna Hildebrand. Our instincts seem to have been on the money as the bust is indeed silver, and possibly of Ryan. The bust could have looked like anyone and is a stand-in for the actor yet to be recast as Colossus (motion capture actor is an unknown), having Ryan’s likeness used because they already had moulds taken for the costume and effects process. Let’s remember that neither the Hulk or Ultron busts ended-up looking like the final characters.

Check out the images below.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool blasts into theatres on February 12th, 2016.
