‘New Mutants’ Shoots July-September In Boston and Montreal

Jun 16, 2017

Omega Underground had previously confirmed that Boston would be a major shooting location for New Mutants (Growing Pains) this was supported by Josh Boone’s Instagram posts and The Massachusetts Film Commission, along with The Boston Globe and The Hollywood Reporter confirming our reports.

Well, we had originally suspected that New Mutants could be shooting in Montreal alongside Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix (shooting there June-October). That was until Boston kept popping up in official casting calls and it looked like that would be the film’s only location.

However, a production source has revealed that it will spend an unknown amount of time in Montreal as well. The film’s production dates have also been listed for a production start date of July 10th with the wrap date of September 15th. Casting calls have suggested production could be leaving Boston in mid-August.

Speculation might suggest that since the two films are shooting at the same time and sharing possible stage space, theoretically they could be connected in some way or share cast members. Both Simon and Josh had hinted in interviews/social media that James McAvoy‘s Xavier could show up in New Mutants. Although, plenty of people have suggested this won’t be happening.

The cast includes Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Henry Zaga, Rosario Dawson, Charlie Heaton, and Blu Hunt. New Mutants is set for release on April 13th, 2018.
