May 28, 2016

Niantic Labs released new pictures of the greatly anticipated Pokemon GO augmented reality game for iOS and Android. Niantic has been field testing Pokemon GO with BETA testers in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. They report their field testers have been “collecting and battling with impressive regularity”. Niantic has been adding features to expand the game play. Trainers can not only find full grown virtual Pokemon in the real world, buy can also find and collect Pokemon eggs and help their Pokemon evolve.

Ninatic says, “Trainers will get a good workout as you must walk a preset distance in order to hatch the Egg and find out what Pokémon will emerge.”

Trainers can find, claim, attack and defend in game Pokemon gyms at real-world locations. Friendly gyms can grow in prestige by training in battles. The bigger the gym the more trainers there are to defend the gym, however players can band together to challenge rival gyms.

Niantic reports the Venusaur has still not been spotted by BETA field testers and asks, “Who will be the first field tester who catches or evolves their Bulbasaurs or Ivysaurs into Venusaur?
