Nicole Kidman In Talks To Play ‘Aquaman’s Mother Atlanna

Jan 31, 2017

Recent Oscar nominee Nicole Kidman is currently in talks for the role of Atlanna in James Wan’s Aquaman film according to The Hollywood Reporter, the part would be the mother of Jason Momoa’s titular hero.

Kidman would be joining Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, and fellow recent addition Yahya Abdul-Mateen as Black Manta.

Adding Aussie actors to the cast is likely going to be a priority now as the Australian film industry unions are notorious for pushing productions shooting in the country to have a guaranteed amount of Aussies working in front and behind the cameras, for productions to be eligible to claim state and federal tax credits.

Kidman had been previously in the mix to play Wonder Woman‘s mother Queen Hippolyta in the Patty Jenkins film but the role ultimately went to Gladiator’s Connie Nielsen instead.
