Noomi Rapace’s Shaw Confirmed For ‘Alien: Covenant’ After All

Jun 20, 2016

There had been a huge back-and-forth if Noomi Rapace would be reprising the role of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.

The film taking place ten years after the events of Prometheus, and her absence from official call-sheets gave the impression she wasn’t coming back. Not to mention a synopsis calling Michael Fassbender‘s David 8 the last surviving crew member.

Deadline confirms Rapace’s Shaw is now returning for Covenant.

I’m curious if the role is just flashbacks from the perspective of David to the crew of the Covenant, or is actually more than just a cameo. There’s been some speculation that Shaw either died by the hands of David or by other means.

She’s said to be shooting weeks worth of scenes in Australia, so maybe they’ve figured-out a way to give her screen time. Or, perhaps they got cold-feet with that rumored Alien connection and are somewhat retool some aspects of the film.

Alien: Covenant is set for release on August 4th, 2017.
