Jan 14, 2017

We are still in a bit of mourning since the loss of both Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds late last month. Unfortunately, rumors started to sprout that since General Leia Organa was expected to have a larger role in Star Wars: Episode IX. That Lucasfilm and ILM might recreate the passed away actress with CGI much like they brought back Peter Cushing in Rogue One. Who, passed away back in 1994. However, Lucasfilm has released a statement ensuring she would not be brought back in such a manner:

We don’t normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address. We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.

Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars.
