Phoenix Comic-Con 15: Katee Sackhoff Confirms Meeting with Marvel Studios

May 31, 2015

Yesterday, Katee Sackhoff was apart of her own panel at the Phoenix Comic-Con to talk about her projects both past and present with the fans which I was lucky enough to attend. Of course many fans asked her questions about her time on Battlestar Galactica as Starbuck (originally portrayed as a male) and breaking into Hollywood. But like always some fans had to ask her about those pesky rumors from early last year about her meeting with Marvel Studios about a potential role maybe even Captain Marvel (Which wasn’t officially announced until last October).

The actress went onto confirm she did indeed meet with Marvel Studios about a multitude of roles that they had in the works but ultimately turned them on down. She did however give a small wink that she “..turned them down because maybe shes holding out for a special role” She however did go onto reveal while “Captain Marvel would be like Starbuck on steroids” she however is more interested in a villain role (Once mentioning loving Harley Quinn who will be played by Margot Robbie in next years Suicide Squad). While she officially doesn’t know if she would want to play another female lead in a sci-fi film she finally admits “…who am I kidding I would totally say yes”

Now many fans do know that Captain Marvel was originally in the “New Avengers” line-up at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron along with Spider-Man but was taken out simply because Marvel wants her to have an origin story first. However with Captain Marvel being pushed back to make room for Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot it maybe a while before we hear any casting for the character. At least not until Avengers: Infinity War Part I starts production.
