Today, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Ronning has entered talks to direct Angelina Jolie in Maleficent 2. Robert Stromberg directed the original film back in 2014 which also starred Elle Fanning as Sleeping Beauty. That film went on to gross $758 million worldwide which guaranteed sequel was inbound.
Jez Butterworth and Linda Woolverton were hired to pen the sequel script. With Joe Roth producing the picture.
