‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Trilogy Director Gore Verbinski Courted For ‘Gambit’

Oct 6, 2017

Today, Deadline revealed that Pirates of the Caribbean original trilogy director Gore Verbinski is being looked at to helm Channing Tatum’s long in-development X-Men spin-off Gambit.  This comes after the past two directors (Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman) have dropped off the project due to scheduling or creative conflicts. However, while a deal has yet to be finalized it’s expected to be signed any day now. It should be noted Verbinski’s last two film’s The Lone Ranger and A Cure for Wellness didn’t make much of an impact at the box office or with critics…

Just last week we had heard a rumor that Channing Tatum’s Lucky Logan co-star Daniel Craig was being eyed for the role of Mr Sinister. Who was rumored to be the film’s main antagonist. However with Bond 25 also beginning filming sometime next year; it’s unknown if he will be able to do both. Bryan Cranston has thrown his name out there in the past as a possible Mr. Sinister as well.

Gambit is expected to start filming sometime next year; No release date is set
