New ‘Power Rangers’ Movie In Early Development By Hasbro/Paramount

Aug 7, 2018

In May, it was announced that Hasbro had bought the rights to the Power Rangers and a bunch of other Saban brands. Now as expected, there is word a new movie is in very early development by Hasbro and most likely Paramount Pictures, who have existing relationship with the Hasbro with Transformers and G.I. Joe film franchises.

Hasbro will work with a film studio to develop a new Power Rangers movie as a follow-up to the 2017 release.

It remains to be seen if they’ll recast the roles of the Rangers, as the rights have jumped to another company/studio negating existing actor contracts from the last movie that were established at Lionsgate. The term ”follow-up” doesn’t automatically mean they’ll make a either direct sequel or a reboot. There is a good chance Hasbro will team-up with Paramount and a new cast is very likely as most studios like to hire their own people and could look to bigger names.
