‘Rambo 5’ Is Back On and Will Keep Cartel Threat

May 7, 2018

Years ago, it was said that Sly Stallone was writing a fifth Rambo movie Rambo: The Last Blood, it would be set on a small border town and when John hopes to reconnect with his family. Only to get tangled up with a Mexican drug cartel.

At the time, Stallone seemingly was butting-heads with the studio and his scheduling became an issue. The project was said to be dead and they were putting enrgy into a reboot with a new actor, Stallone suggesting Ryan Gosling for the part.

Now, Deadline reports Rambo 5 is back on and seemingly still using that plot/script Sly had been crafting.

When the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.

Considering the success of Narcos and Sicario it’s not terribly shocking Sly wants to revisit the premise, he’s also seemingly wanting to give his characters their cinematic endings.

Stallone is still shooting Creed 2 and then begins filming Expendables 4 in August, so it’s unlikely it’ll start filming before 2019.
