‘Rick and Morty’s Dan Harmon Worked On ‘Doctor Strange’; Will He Write or Direct A Marvel Film?

Aug 24, 2016

It looks like Doctor Strange got a boost from a living-breathing comedy writer, as The Hollywood Report says that Dan Harmon (Community, Rick and Morty) wrote additional scenes for the film, which apparently have wrapped recently.

Harmon was brought on board after the movie wrapped principal production and his pages were “for additional photography,” according to one source.

Keep in mind, his Community pals The Russo Brothers have become big-wigs at the studio directing The Winter Soldier, Civil War and are about to begin shooting Infinity War. It’s extremely possible that Harmon could be asked to do more work on scripts, or maybe even make the jump to director at some point.

A while back we suggested Dan and Justin Roiland, the co-creators of Rick and Morty attempt to tackle the Inhumans movie, even putting it out there to let them direct as well.

At this point I could see Harmon writing or directing anything that Marvel put in front of him, as the talented writer knows genre better than most and could be the next James Gunn if Marvel allowed him the same creative space.

Funny enough, Inhumans hopeful Adam McKay helped Marvel out by doing some finishing touches on the Ant-Man script and will be back contributing on the Ant-Man and The Wasp script. I think pairing McKay and Harmon might be the best situation when it comes to an Inhumans film, after being pulled off the release slate.

I’m curious if the scenes were to add a bit more humor or to connect Strange to the larger cinematic universe.
