Rick Famuyiwa To Write and Direct ‘Black Hole’ Feature Adaptation

Mar 1, 2018

HollywoodReporter has learned that Dope’s Rick Famuyiwa has signed-on to write and direct a feature film adaptation of the sexual body horror graphic novel Black Hole by Charles Burns.

Rick had been previously working on a Flash movie only to be removed by Warner Bros. over “creative differences”.

Set in the Pacific Northwest during the 1970s, Black Hole follows a group of high schoolers who contract a mysterious, apparently sexually transmitted disease known as “the Bug.” As the syndrome causes physical mutations, turning the teens into something else, the community is left to deal with the fallout.

At one time Paramount had David Fincher attached to direct before it fell apart. This incarnation will be at New Regency with Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B also on board.
