Ridley Scott and Drew Goddard Reuniting For Violent Western ‘Wraiths of The Broken Land’

May 10, 2016

Ridley Scott and Drew Goddard will be re-teaming for another film, after working together on the Oscar nominated film The Martian. They’ll be adapting the Western novel Wraiths of The Broken Land from author S. Craig Zahler, as 20th Century Fox has closed the deal for the project.

Wraiths of The Broken Land is a Western, set near the Mexican border at the turn of the previous century. A group of men assemble and storm across the badlands to find their captive sisters, doing anything they deem necessary to achieve their goal. Lives, ethics and sanity are imperiled during the wild, brutal struggle that ensues and nobody is safe.

Ridley is currently launching the start of a purposed new Alien trilogy with Alien: Covenant and has suggested he’d return to making the two sequels. This isn’t the first Western for Scott, as he had been attempting for years to make a feature film version of Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian.

Considering how quickly Ridley Scott works I wouldn’t be shocked if the film goes into production next year. Then again, he develops so many projects it’s possible this might get shelved as well.
