We’re excited to watch our first real Alien film in twenty years with Alien: Covenant releasing in May. Well, it looks like Ridley Scott isn’t wasting any time to pursue sequels as our friends over at AVPGalaxy has spotted a brief quote from The Sydney Morning Herald with Ridley talking about a sequel and confirming it’s written.
While working on Alien: Covenant, he had the next installment written so he is ready to keep advancing the saga.
“You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that, you’d better be ready,” he says. “You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.”
Depending on when this last quote was taken we could see the sequel shooting next year. However, if was on the set during filming as most of this interview is, this means he could be shooting sometime in 2017. This isn’t entirely surprising as Scott has talked-up making two more films before production began. I guess the box office will determine if the studio moves forward with more movies.
So much for those rumors that he was waiting on the bench to direct The Batman before Matt Reeves was hired.
The path to paradise begins in hell.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
