Ridley Scott Shooting ‘PROMETHEUS’ Sequel In September

Feb 23, 2015

Another bit of news coming from the lastest episode of Meet The Movie Press is Justin Kroll from Variety mentioning that he “heard” that Ridley Scott will begin production on Prometheus 2 sometime in September.

Scott will likely be completed post-production on The Martian by then which stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Mara, Kristen Wiig, Sebastian Stan, Jeff Daniels, and Donald Glover. It’s release date as been set for November 25th, 2015.

Justin was the first person to confirm Neill Blomkamp‘s deal to make a new Alien film and clarified that Ridley Scott was still moving forward with another Prometheus film.

This news likely means that Scott will further delay the production of Blade Runner 2 or will have to hand-it-off to another director. I had heard that it was an either or situation between the Prometheus and Blade Runner sequels. Fox makes his films hit or miss and it was kind of obvious he’d stick with the studio he’s been loyal to for decades, who also greenlight his projects.

A script is completed by Michael Green with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender set to reprise their roles. Considering how fast the turnaround Ridley has had with most of his films I suspect that we should be seeing a release date set for late summer or fall of next year.

I’m sure 20th Century Fox will make this a bit more official very soon.
