‘Rogue One’ Passes $400M Globally On The Path To Reach $600M By Next Week

Dec 23, 2016

After a little over a full week at the international box office Rogue One has managed to earn $403 million globally.

There are already projections it’ll win the domestic weekend for a second time in a row with a possible $70 million. Estimates are also supporting that by Monday the film could reach between $500-600M globally depending on how the film fairs with other new releases entering foreign markets.

It’s already within the Top 20 Worldwide Grosses of 2016 and will likely be in the Top 10 in days.

This is extremely good news for Lucasfilm, as the film has yet to drop in multiple foreign markets including China. This opens itself up for a long-haul of returns, not unlike other holiday releases we’ve seen previously.

A rather expensive reshoot and marketing campaign won’t hurt the project as previously expected if the numbers keep on a steady pace as they did domestically over the past week. Depending on how the rest of January performs we could see Rogue One‘s final worldwide gross somewhere in the range of $895 million to around $1 billion, not bad at all.

Jyn Erso, a Rebellion soldier and criminal, is about to experience her biggest challenge yet when Mon Mothma sets her out on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. With help from the Rebels, a master swordsman, and non-allied forces, Jyn will be in for something bigger than she thinks.

Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk.
