Roland Emmerich’s WWII Epic ‘Midway’ Expected To Film In Montreal – Woody Harrelson In Talks

Jun 18, 2018

Last year, we revealed that Roland Emmerich planned on filming his WWII action film Midway in Hawaii and we’ve learned of yet another location as filming will also take place in Montreal.

The Canadian location has seemingly replaced potential locations in California which the film had been previously eyeing last year.

The Battle of Midway in the South Pacific was a decisive naval battle in June 1942, six months after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. The U.S. Navy defeated an attacking fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy near Midway Atoll after U.S. code breakers were able to pinpoint the time and place of the attack. The damage to the Japanese fleet was so extensive that it never recovered and military historians regard the battle as a turning point in the war.

Trades recently revealed that actors Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore are in talks for lead roles in the film with a production start aiming for August 16th.

This wouldn’t be the first WWII film for Woody after playing a part in The Thin Red Line.

Lionsgate has yet to give the film an official release date.
