Roland Emmerich’s WWII Film ‘Midway’ Shoots This February In California and Hawaii

Sep 9, 2017

Roland Emmerich‘s next film will oddly be taking a more serious tone (at least we’re hoping it does) with the WWII film Midway, which will tackle the Battle of Midway.

The Battle of Midway in the South Pacific was a decisive naval battle in June 1942, six months after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. The U.S. Navy defeated an attacking fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy near Midway Atoll after U.S. code breakers were able to pinpoint the time and place of the attack. The damage to the Japanese fleet was so extensive that it never recovered and military historians regard the battle as a turning point in the war.

Omega Underground has spotted a new production listing for the film which reveals filming will be taking place sometime in February, with locations including Bay Area California (San Francisco?) and Hawaii.

Midway has Chinese investors (Bona Film Group) and currently doesn’t have an American distributor, so a US release date hasn’t been slated for the war film currently.
