The list of comic book and sci-fi characters that actress Rosario Dawson has been rumored to play has not only gotten bigger today, but might actually be more than a rumor.
The actress, who has become a mainstay of the Marvel / Netflix universe of shows in the role of Claire Temple, is in negotiations to star in the Marvel / Fox movie New Mutants. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dawson is in negotiations to play the role of Cecilia Reyes in the film alongside Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) as Magick and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane.
Dr. Cecilia Reyes was a character created by Scott Lobdell and Carlos Pacheco. She is a medical doctor in New York who has the mutant ability to project a bio-field around herself in order to protect her physically, but also enhance her durability.
According to the story, Reyes will serve as a mentor to the group of young mutants. Early rumors suggested that there would be appearances from James McAvoy reprising his role of Professor Xavier and Alexandra Shipp as Storm, but those rumors have yet to be confirmed.
The film will be co-written and directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) and is slated for release April 13, 2018.
