RUMOR: ‘Captain Marvel’ Looking To Shoot Scenes In Baton Rouge?

Nov 30, 2017

Casting is currently underway for Captain Marvel with Jude Law and Ben Mendelsohn reportedly said to be joining confirmed cast members, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. However, we’re hearing some interesting tidbits that could reveal a possible location in the film.

We got a tip that Marvel has hired a location scout that might be looking at locations in the Baton Rouge area for the film. What this means remains to be seen at this point, but most Marvel films have multiple locations and Baton Rouge might make a suitable locale for Brie Larson’s Air Force pilot Carol Danvers to inhabit in the 1990s. It’s also possible that Baton Rouge could be looked at doubling for another city.

Incentives were one of the big reasons production moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles, Baton Rouge/Lousiana offers their own incentives as well. We’re not excluding the idea New Orleans being used too due to proximity but it wasn’t named.

This isn’t 100% as we’re treating as a rumor for now but Marvel films tend to seek secondary location shoots outside of where the stages are located (usually Pinewood Atlanta) they tend to be used for the film’s setting. Some examples include Captain America: The Winter Soldier was set in Washington D.C., Avengers: Age of Ultron used multiple real locales including Seoul, South Korea, Ant-Man/Ant-Man and The Wasp used San Francisco, Spider-Man: Homecoming was set in NYC/Queens, Black Panther shot scenes in Busan, South Korea, and Avengers: Infinity War recently used Edinburgh, Scotland.

There also just happens to be an Air Force base (Barksdale) around 3-4 hours away as from the city. Then again, there are a couple of Air Force bases close to the LA stages Captain Marvel will be using. Co-director Ryan Fleck previously teased location scouting over the summer posting an undisclosed Air Force based on his Instagram account.
