Just yesterday we learned that Marvel Studios could be courting Selma’s Ava DuVernay to direct either Black Panther or Captain Marvel, The Wrap leaning towards Panther. Well it’s possible we might have another candidate with Dope director Rick Famuyiwa according to a rumor coming from El Mayimbe, this isn’t a scoop though it’s just a flat-out rumor. The Sundance hit has been winning over many snobby critics and Rick seems like a filmmaker that would attract people like Marvel to the table. Rick’s movie Dope seems like the type of film that would get a director to meet with Marvel, it’s colorful, smart, witty, with a bit of action mixed in there.
If true, this could mean that Ava might be actually wanted for Captain Marvel, but we could see multiple candidates in the running for these new heroes.
