Nov 8, 2017

Today, The Wrap released a new report on DC Comics upcoming Suicide Squad 2. Pre-production will begin soon on the project as it’s expected to begin filming in 2018 after Shazam! Now according to their recent report, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is expected to actually be introduced in first in Suicide Squad 2. The Squad is sent out to hunt for a “Weapon of Mass Destruction” which happens to be Black Adam himself.

The inclusion of Dwayne Johnson is many franchises has helped bolster the films with critics and fans alike. Much like he did with Fast & Furious or the G.I.Joe franchises. Currently, the original Suicide Squad is sitting at a terrible 25% on Rotten Tomatoes. Even though it made over $750 Million worldwide. Johnson currently has a slew of films he is expected to start filming next year so don’t expect anything more than a cameo for most of the film according to their sources. Black Adam will also have his own spin-off film before meeting his arch-nemesis Shazam (Zachary Levi) in a future DC film.

Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant) has been hired to write and direct the upcoming sequel. This comes off director David Ayer left the project to do Gotham City Sirens. But currently that film seems to be stuck in limbo.

Suicide Squad 2 will hit theaters sometime in 2019
