RUMOR: Former ‘Gambit’ Director Rupert Wyatt To Tackle ‘Green Lantern Corps’?

Jul 3, 2017

It looks like Warner Bros. really wants the Planet of The Apes team working on the DCEU. A new rumor from ThatHashtagShow suggests that Rise of The Planet of The Apes director Rupert Wyatt is not attached to direct Green Lantern Corps. It sounds like this news might be coming by way of a casting call they’ve uncovered.

This hasn’t been made official so treat as a rumor for the moment.

Wyatt isn’t a stranger to comic book properties as he was the original director signed-on to make the solo Gambit film for 20th Century Fox. His exit obviously hasn’t stopped his desire to jump into making comic book films.

They also add possible character descriptions for both Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Reaffirming that Hal will be a bit older taking a mentor role alongside a rookie version of Stewart.

Hal Jordan: Caucasian, 39 – 50. A former military test pilot, he is now a veteran of the Green Lantern Corps.

John Stewart: African- American male, 21 – 30. Prior to joining the Green Lantern Corp, he was a sniper in the military.

Fellow Apes director Matt Reeves was recently announced to take over directing duties on The Batman from Ben Affleck.

A release date and production start haven’t been revealed but it had been reported that David Goyer would be working on the script.
