RUMOR: James Franco Is The Colony Ship’s Captain In ‘Alien: Covenant’

Dec 9, 2016

You might remember a few months back it was rumored via Mashable’s Jeff Sneider that James Franco‘s agency was pushing his name forward for Shane Black’s The Predator.

We then revealed ourselves that Franco had passed on the role to move onto another project titled Kin, but it looks like he’s nabbed another big science fiction role at 20th Century Fox.

AVP Galaxy has exclusively learned that James Franco will actually be supporting his friend Danny McBride and will appear in Alien: Covenant. His role is said to be Branson, the Captain of the ship Covenant and husband of Katherine Waterston’s Daniels.

Franco will be appearing in Alien: Covenant as Branson, the captain of the Covenant and husband of Katherine Waterson’ Daniels. Franco’s appearance in Alien: Covenant will only be brief, though. He appears in the first ten minutes or so of the film with later small appearances. Franco will also be reprising the role as Branson in some of the viral footage that has been shot for Alien: Covenant.

AVP Galaxy sources on the project are strong, so we’ll take them at their word.

Plus, during the Fox event yesterday, Katherine confirmed that a majority of the Covenant’s crew have been coupled-off.

The film also recently undertook reshoots in England and it’s extremely possible a bulk of Franco’s scenes were shot during this time.

Considering the talk of a high body count I wouldn’t expect Franco’s role to be as large as some are expecting by the news as it’s reported his scenes are going to be limited.

It looks like Danny McBride is playing the ship’s pilot as suspected from set photos, this could mean the two will have some screentime together.

Danny and James have previously worked together in multiple films including Pineapple Express, Your Highness, This Is The End, Sausage Party, The Sound of Fury, As I Lay Dying and Zeroville.

A trailer is looming as it was recently revealed to press at a Fox event, so keep your eyes pealed for it to be posted here.
