A new report from our friends at ThatHashtagShow says that actors John Cena and Joshua Sasse are currently up for the role of Shazam in the solo film directed by David F. Sandberg.
Interesting enough, the film won’t include Dwayne Johnson‘s Black Adam, who will instead get his own solo film first. Cena might not be an acting giant but with roles in Bumblebee and Trainwreck, he’s at least attempting to tackle various types of projects.
I can’t speak towards Sasse because it’s the first time reading his name.
Also, they’ve revealed a character breakdown for Billy Batson suggesting he’ll be slightly older than expected.
Male, 12-15 years old. A teenager who becomes Captain Marvel, the world’s mightiest mortal. Granted access to incredible powers by the wizard Shazam, he speaks the wizard’s name and is struck by a lightning bolt that gives him the powers of the gods.
When it comes to casting scoops THS has been on the money lately, so we wouldn’t be terribly surprised if this comes together soon.
