Sydney’s Daily Telegraph is claiming that Screen Queensland will be working with Warner Bros. on the production of James Wan‘s Aquaman and will begin early next year in Australia. Wan just happens to be an Aussie, which might have a lot to do with production taking place there.
There are no new productions to announce at this point, however Screen Queensland pursues all leads that can deliver benefit to the state and support the growth of queensland’s film industry.”
Heard will play Aquaman’s love interest Mera in the film that will star Game Of Thrones hunk Jason Momoa in the lead and will see.
Willem Dafoe and Michael Kenneth Williams are also attached to the project, that is expected to begin filming in the new year.
They’re listing the cast as Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Defoe and newly mentioned Michael K. Williams (The Wire, The Night Of, Boardwalk Empire) is apparently attached too.
Williams had publicly voiced an interest for rumored role of villain treasure hunter Black Manta.
James Wan is quite active on social media, so he’ll likely confirm or debunk this very quickly.
UPDATE: Wan has stated this on Twitter, referring to Williams being cast as Black Manta. However, doesn’t expand upon it shooting in Australia or Williams not being apart of the cast, just specifically the Manta connection.
Nah, not real. https://t.co/pvqy1b3CnG

George Miller’s Justice League was once going to shoot in Australia, so it’s possible the studio is trying to mend a relationship and attempt to create a production presence in the country.
