RUMOR: Possible Actress Shortlist For Domino Role In ‘Deadpool 2’ Revealed

Oct 19, 2016

A group of possible actresses vying for the role of Domino in Deadpool 2 has seemingly popped-up on Collider.

As the site claims they’ve been given a shortlist of actresses in the running to play the role of mutant mercenary Domino in the Deadpool sequel.

Sources close to the production exclusively tell Collider that testing has begun for the character of Domino, and the actresses under consideration include Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane), Sienna Miller (American Sniper), Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond), Stephanie Sigman (Spectre), and Sylvia Hoeks (Overspel). There could be other actresses included in the mix, but sources tell us that at least these six performers have tested or are going to test for the role.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead would be a strong contender as she had once tested for the role of Sharon Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Her Scott Pilgrim co-stars Chris Evans (Captain America) and Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) have also landed Marvel roles since working together. She’s had a couple of action roles with 10 Cloverfield Lane, Die Hard 4 and The Thing prequel. Let’s not forget she’s also apart of the Quentin Tarantino club having had a role in his film Death Proof.

At face value, I’d say she’s one of the strongest candidates on this list.

Another standout would be Sofia Boutella being a key part in the success of Fox’s Kingsman: The Secret Service. She also has landed big roles in other films with Star Trey Beyond and Tom Cruise’s Mummy reboot. Sofia was also on our casting-wishlist to play an older Laura Kinney aka X-23 in future X-Men films.

Heroic Hollywood were the first to report on the role being one of two secondary leads of the film, with Cable already confirmed.

Mackenzie Davis from The Martian and Blade Runner 2049 had been linked for the role previously. Her series Halt and Catch Fire won’t be getting renewed, so we expected it would allow her to sign-up for multiple X-Men films.

We don’t often see scoops coming from Collider outside of their interviews via Frosty, so we’re considering this a rumor until other outlets and maybe help support the shortlist.

Deadpool 2 is still currently without an official release date, but is expected to begin shooting early next year. There is expectations that the Domino role would carry over into the X-Force franchise as well.
