Every couple of weeks talk of Ben Affleck being terribly unhappy with his commitment to The Batman surfaces and then they quickly go away. However, TheHollywoodReporter is stating that the studio is now trying to figure out how to phase his version of Batman out of the DCEU “gracefully”.
But a source with knowledge of the situation says that the studio is working on plans to usher out Affleck’s Batman — gracefully, addressing the change in some shape or form in one of the upcoming DC films.
Currently, director Matt Reeves is starting from scratch (tossing Geoff Johns and Affleck’s script) on the script with talk of a potential 2018 production start.
Their DC panel takes place tomorrow at San Diego Comic-Con, so it’ll be a hot topic on the floor and on the press line. It’ll most likely be brought up at one point. Nothing is quite confirmed here and since this sounds like inside rumors, don’t expect Warner Bros. to officially comment here.
