While on the live video podcast of SourceFedNerd, Umberto from Heroic Hollywood, revealed two casting rumors concerning Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Woman. Stating that Sean Bean (Troy, Game of Thrones) is being looked at to play Ares and Eva Green (Casino Royale, 300: Rise of An Empire, Kingdom of Heaven) for the role of villainess Circe, both have roots at the studio and could make for excellent casting additions.
Ares, the Greek God of war and son of Zeus, is apparently one of the most recurrent enemies of Wonder Woman in the comics, and has had many transformations over the years, his first appearance was in Wonder Woman #1 released in 1942. There’s been talk that Diana herself will be the daughter of Zeus and could have a bit of a family rivalry/squabble with Ares.
Circe, is a sorceress from Greek mythology, most notably from Homer’s Odyssey with the ability to turn humans into animals, along with being a major adversary for Wonder Woman, first appearing in DC Comics in 1959.
