A while back it was reported that Sony was eyeing Jared Leto to play the role of Bloodshot, a comic book project that would help launch a cinematic universe.
Well, it looks like Leto is out and according to a new rumor from TheWrap Vin Diesel is now in talks. Seemingly a huge downgrade from an Oscar-winner to one-note action “star” but Diesel is known internationally. It also might be a move by producer Neal H. Moritz, who also produces the Fast and Furious films.
Omega Underground’s own recent reporting was that Sony was eyeing production in South Africa and Budapest. They obviously want to get things moving soon and Leto might not be available for their planned production shoot.
Bloodshot’s script was penned by Arrival’s Eric Heisser and will be directed by Blur Studio’s David Wilson.
Sony has yet to set production or release dates for Bloodshot.
