While Hugh Jackman revealed recently that he’s got a full, but not finalized script for Wolverine 3. The actor apparently holding the keys to the production start, when he’s happy with the script they’ll start shooting. There’s a new rumor suggesting the date of the production start on Jackman’s final X-Men film.
Industry website My Entertainment World (another site like Tracking Board?) is stating the film would start shooting on April, 25th, 2016, taking place in New Orleans and New Mexico. It’s not been confirmed officially, but we should hear something a bit more concrete soon. Also, the source seems new to me, so, keep the in mind as well.
I assume they’re talking about Albuquerque, which has a large film and television industry. Being the production home for projects like Breaking Bad, The Book of Eli, The Avengers, Thor, Preacher, Independence Day: Resurgence, Lone Survivor, Sicario, and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.
A local New Orleans ABC report from a couple weeks ago, gave us a March production start for Doug Liman’s Gambit starring Channing Tatum, and Lea Seydoux. It would be shot in and around the New Orleans area, where they also shot Jurassic World. It’s possible that Fox might be trying to setup a new home for X-Men projects at those stages, and we could end up seeing Josh Boone’s New Mutants shoot there as well.
It’s all but confirmed that the film would be a cinematic/altered version of Mark Millar‘s Old Man Logan. Due to the source material’s reliance on character rights that Fox doesn’t have access to, it was thought they’d have to overhaul the Old Man Logan to make it PG-13 and exclude/replace the Marvel Studios characters. Director James Mangold and writer David James Kelly worked together on the first draft, while Michael Green (Alien: Covenant, Blade Runner 2) did rewrites on the more recent version of the script.
Wolverine 3 (Wolverine: Old Man Logan?) has the set release date of March 3rd, 2017.
