‘Rush Hour’ Female-Led Reboot in Development; Bingbing Li Offered to Co-Star

Mar 6, 2019

In the newest fad, another female-led reboot of a popular franchise is in the works: ‘Rush Hour.’ This follows the trend of movies like ‘Ghostbusters,’ ‘Ocean’s 8,’ ‘What Men Want,’ and ‘The Hustle’ (the remake of ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’). Oh, and ’24 Jump Street.’

The details on the reboot are currently under lock and key, but we do have one piece of information.

Bingbing Li (‘Transformers: Age of Extinction,’ ‘The Meg’) has been given an offer to co-star in the film. This would be the same role that Jackie Chan had in the original trilogy. It is unknown in the mix for the Chris Tucker role.

Speaking of Chris Tucker, he did give an update on the long-gestating ‘Rush Hour 4’ in January:

“We’re working on a few things on the script right now, so we’re trying to get into production, but we’re working on it and trying to get it going. Jackie Chan wants to do it, I want to do it, the studio wants to do it, so we’re trying to get it together. I was definitely down as long as it comes together right – and it looks like it’s coming together right.”

Perhaps we can get both films, but right now, it is unknown what will happen to the long awaited ‘Rush Hour 4.’ It could be, sadly, forgone in favor of the female reboot, but only time will tell.
