Sam Neill (Jurassic World, Event Horizon, In The Mouth of Madness) has revealed to ShortList he’s joined the cast of Taika Waiti‘s Thor: Ragnarok in an undisclosed role. The Aussie actor recently worked with Waiti for the buzzed-about indie comedy The Hunt for The Wilderpeople.
“Oddly enough, I’m not really allowed to say this and I can’t tell you what it is..yeah, I am actually..I did a couple of days actually on Thor just before I came over here.”
He also co-starred with Cate Blanchett (plays villainess Hela) in the film Little Fish and Jeff Goldblum (plays cosmic villain The Grandmaster in Ragnarok) in the massively successful Jurassic Park. Having previously working relationships with the film’s villains might suggest he’s playing a villain himself.
It was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that two other Thor villains had been added to the project via concept art. The villains being giant fire demon Surtur ,that once he lights his sword with a certain flame brings about Ragnarok, the other is giant talking wolf Fenris (if able to speak in this incarnation), Neill could easily voice either one and or do motion capture for them.
Sam could always end-up playing a random human, apart of Hela’s undead army, or another Asgardian too.
Ragnarok is set for release on November 3rd, 2017.
