Scarlett Johansson Joining Taika Waititi’s WWII Satire ‘Jojo Rabbit’

Mar 29, 2018

Variety reports that Avengers actress Scarlett Johansson is in negotiations with Taika Waititi to take a lead role in his WWII satire Jojo Rabbit.

The film centers on a young boy living in Nazi Germany with his mother and eventually hides a young Jewish girl in their home. Dealing with this situation he creates an imaginary friend version of Hitler which is actually a reflection of his father rather than the fascist dictator.

Scarlett Johansson will play the young boy’s mother while Taika will play his imaginary friend.

Auditions were recently taking place in Kent, England searching for a newcomer to play the young boy lead. We’ve learned previously that filming is expected to begin this May and is expected to film in Prague and Berlin.

Fox Searchlight has yet to give the film a release date.
