Collider has word from The Predator‘s director and co-writer Shane Black concerning a recent plot tidbit coming from The Hollywood Reporter that the film would be set in the suburbs.
Black suggests this isn’t the case.
Included in THR’s report on Munn’s casting was the claim that The Predator will take place in the suburbs. However, Black himself reached out to tell us that is not the case—The Predator is not a movie about the suburbs.
There was reason to believe THR’s report given Black’s knack for subverting expectations, but it appears that they (or their sources) were mistaken. Don’t expect any suburban “Predator lurking in rich, fancy swimming pools” scenes.
What we do know about The Predator aka Ollie is that Boyd Holbrook (Logan, Narcos, Gone Girl) is confirmed for the male lead (special forces soldier Quinn McKenna?) and Olivia Munn (The Newsroom, X-Men: Apocalypse) is in talks to play the female lead.
We’re sort of hoping to see humans using predator technology and possibly more glimpses of the predator homeworld, it’s unlikely we’ll have this confirmed or revealed anytime soon though.
The Predator‘s release date is set for February 9th, 2018.
