The Transformers films directed by Micheal Bay has been one lucrative franchise. While most not being very good beside the first Transformer movie the films have been a smash hit at the box office. Now Paramount Pictures are going to head them into a shared cinematic universe. Headed by Batman & Robin scribe Akvia Goldsman the studio is looking to make potential spin-offs and sequels for the series for many years to come. Deadline adds:

Goldsman would not be writing but instead assembling and overseeing a “writers room” to hatch an idea for how to tackle a two-part sequel in the film’s franchise in addition to potential spinoffs. Goldsman would likely join Bay, di Bonaventura and Steven Spielberg as a producer.

It’s unfortunate that Paramount doesn’t see that the Star Trek films is more suited for a cinematic universe than their Transformers counterparts. With The Next Generation getting a reboot would be nice? All connected to the new films timeline….
