A new Ghostbusters casting rumor is coming from Film Divider who say that SNL’s Cecily Strong is taking a major role. Take as rumor at the moment but Cecily Strong had been linked for the reboot previously by The Hollywood Reporter.
THR originally included 22 Jump Street standout and Workaholics actress Jillian Bell was also being eyed for the film. I’d honestly perfer to see Jillian in the lineup but that’s just my opinion.
Three other actresses in the cast are also Saturday Night Live alumni.
Paul Feig’s reboot already stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones with production beginning this summer and it’s release date set for July 2016.
Bill Murray and Peter Dinklage have also been linked for roles but haven’t been confirmed by Feig or Sony.
