This may feel like a bit of deja vu to many movie bloggers. Back in 2013 before the debut of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Sony Pictures announced a slew of Spider-Man spin-off films that were in the works. These included the fast-tracked Venom and Sinister Six films. As well as The Amazing Spider-Man sequels and even an Aunt May spy thriller were in development. All of that went down the drain when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 came out with massive critical hate. Sony then decided to reboot their franchise again with Spider-Man joining into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now today Sony Pictures once again announced the long rumored Venom will is going to hit theaters October 5th, 2018. The original report stated that The Mummy reboot director and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer Alex Kurtzman was set to helm the project. However, the report was redacted to say Kurtzman is not involved and that the Jumanji reboot scribes Scott Rosenberg & Jeff Pinkner will be penning the script.
