Sony’s ‘Bloodshot’ Movie Eyeing Cape Town and Budapest As Locations

Dec 14, 2017

Sony has been mapping out their own wave of upcoming comic book films for their release slate with Venom, Silver & Black, Spider-Man 2, The Crow Reborn, and Morbius.

Well, we’ve learned that Sony is aiming to shoot their Bloodshot movie in both Budapest, Hungary and Cape Town, South Africa.

The film is based on the Valiant Comics character which is reportedly going to be played by Oscar-winner Jared Leto.

Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless killer for the mob who is set up by the family and framed for a murder. He instead goes into Witness Protection, but is betrayed by an FBI agent guarding him, kidnapped and forcibly subjected to an experimental program in which his body is injected with microscopic computers called nanites. They erase his brain and rebuild it and his body to be a weapon with superhuman strength and healing powers.

Jared wouldn’t be new these locations as the actor shot Blade Runner 2049 in Budapest and Lord of War in Cape Town.

First-time feature director Dave Wilson is set to make his debut on the film. Wilson, like Deadpool‘s Tim Miller, is a creative director over at Miller’s Blur Studio.

Dave replaced John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, who left to pursue other projects. The previous directors might have had a hand in picking these locales as Chad is looking to shoot his Highlander reboot in South Africa while Leitch used Budapest to double 1980s East/West Berlin in Atomic Blonde.

Sony is expected to shoot The Crow Reborn in Budapest as well.

Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman, Kick-Ass) and Neal H. Moritz (Fast and Furious, Highlander) are producing Bloodshot.

Sony hasn’t set release or production dates.
