Spider-Man is about to start production this summer and we’re getting potential details concerning the new film.

Tom Holland is confirmed for the Peter Paker role, while Marisa Tomei is said to be playing Aunt May with Zendaya playing potentially a new character named Michelle.

The Independent has picked-up that Sony has registered the website SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie.com, which reroots back to the official Sony website and could be revealing the official title.

Homecoming, refers to an actual existing Spider-Man story from the 80’s that included Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Thor, Hawkeye, War Machine and Wasp. We’ve been hearing for months that the new film will have an Avengers connection.

It takes place after Parker gets the black suit from his interactions with the Secret Wars crossover comic event.

However, it looks like Robert and Chris Evans might be only Avengers in the film version of Homecoming.

Back in the 1980s, the Spider-Man comics featured a storyline named “Homecoming” which contained appearances from both Captain America and Iron Man; considering actors Chris Evans and Robert Downey, Jr. recently suggested they’re to film something together in Atlanta, Georgia – conveniently the filming location of the upcoming Spider-Man film – it seems a likely bet they’ll be showing up.

It’s been rumored for ages that Robert’s Tony Stark will be apart of the film as a mentor figure and having Evans’ Steve Rogers in there as well could help cement the Avengers connections. We’ve been hearing for ages that Sony has been asking for Marvel to include their characters after Spidey showing-up in Captain America: Civil War.

Spider-Man and Iron Man have had multiple adventures together in the old Marvel Team-Up comics.

The Spider-Man characters in the comic included Venom, The Lizard and Black Cat.

I’d be willing to bet that Black Cat might be the character that could feature in the film, as the Lizard could be problematic after a dismal appearance in Amazing Spider-Man.

A Venom spin-off film is back in development at Sony, which might be a good reason to add him to this film, but we don’t have official word if it will connect to Spider-Man: Homecoming or not.

Homecoming taking place after Peter gets the black suit from the events of Secret Wars.

Felicia Hardy, is a socialite that becomes a cat burglar and eventual crime fighting partner of Spidey. Sony tried twice to introduce this heroine into the Spider-Man franchise.

Originally, Anne Hathaway was set to play Black Cat in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 before Sony axed it and she played Catwoman instead in The Dark Knight Rises. Sony attempted a second incarnation of her with in Amazing Spider-Man 2 by finally introducing Felicity Jones as Felicia Hardy.

I wouldn’t be terribly shocked if this character Michelle might actually be a version of Hardy.

Marvel Studios have been using known comic storylines as titles (Age of Ultron, Winter Solider, Civil War, Infinity War) for their films, so using Spider-Man: Homecoming wouldn’t be shocking.

Other websites gobbled-up by Sony are as follows, which could be misdirections or have connections to the animated film.
