Steven Spielberg is reuniting with his Oscar nominated Bridge of Spies screenwriter Matt Charman for untitled film that would focus on the relationship between beloved/respected American journalist Walter Cronkite and his turning around the public perception of the un-winnable Vietnam War according to Variety.

Cronkite did extensive reporting on the war during his time at CBS, and he even covered the war in country, you can see an example of his work this clip.

The project is setup at Amblin Entertainment and will be distributed by another studio.

Steven is busy with the upcoming production of the franchise-starter Ready Player One for Warner Bros., and is attached to make The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara afterwards.

Spielberg has tackled WWII with Schindler’s List, Empire of The Sun and Saving Private, the Cold-War with Bridge of Spies, it would be amazing to see him direct a film centred on the Vietnam War. He’s not attached to direct, only produce, but we’ve seen him jump onboard films if they interest him enough.
