‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Casting New Black Female Character – Call Letitia Wright

May 1, 2018

It looks like Star Wars isn’t slowing down adding new female characters for Episode IX, it was recently revealed they’re looking to cast a mature actress to play a character named Mara.

ThatHashtagShow has news of second new female character named Caro (unknown if real character name) that is being eyed specifically for a black actress 18-26.

They also include a character breakdown for Caro.

Caro is described as having a “captivating naturalness and ease to her manner.”  Caro is a “leader and  problem solver, smart with a great sense of humor and a strong will. All this comes to her effortlessly. ”

There are plenty of actresses they could end up casting but we’d love to see Black Panther‘s Letitia Wright (Black Mirror, Avengers: Infinity War, Ready Player One), the 24 year old British-Guyanese actress seems like a strong contender due to current high-profile projects. We’ve also seen many MCU cast members take roles in the Star Wars universe.

Filming on Episode IX aka Black Diamond is expected to begin by late July at Pinewood Studios UK.

It’s set for release on December 22nd, 2019.
