In September, it was announced that J.J. Abrams would take over directing duties from Colin Trevorrow on Star Wars: Episode IX and was reported by Variety that production would begin sometime in June.
We’ve been able to reaffirm Variety’s reporting that indeed Lucasfilm plans to have cameras rolling next summer at Pinewood Studios via a production source.

Barring any further production hiccups in the next six months, it looks like the plan is on track to film the final installment in the trilogy over the summer.
Episode IX is scheduled for a release on December 20th, 2019.
