‘Star Wars’ Lead Daisy Ridley In The Mix For Lara Croft Role In ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot

Mar 10, 2016

A new report from Deadline suggests that Star Wars: The Force Awakens lead actress Daisy Ridley is an early frontrunner for the role of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot.

Deadline understands that the fresh-faced Ridley is one of a number of actresses being considered for the Tomb Raider reboot that Warner Bros and MGM are partnering on to produce and release, with GK Films’ Graham King producing.

It’s interesting, the studio is actually going after a British actress, rather than another American faking a bad accent.

Daisy has kept her post-Star Wars roles limited, which makes it slightly easier for her to sign-up for another franchise role like Raider. She’s currently shooting Star Wars: Episode VIII for director Rian Johnson and is committed to be apart of Star Wars: Episode IX for Colin Trevorrow later on.

However, they do mention other actresses are in the running as well, but Ridley is likely a frontrunner due to her international awareness.

The reboot is said to take inspiration from the new wave of Tomb Raider games, rather than being some homage to the lousy Angelina Jolie movies.
