In what is shaping up to be a resurgence in the prolific authors presence on the big and small screen, another Stephen King project is currently in production and heading to Netflix.

The latest Stephen King adaptation is based on his 1992 novel Gerald’s Game. The book tells the story of Gerald and Jessie Burlingame. An upscale couple who decide to get away from the world to their secluded Maine cabin in the woods. After Gerald decides to try a new adult game in the bedroom, he dies of a heart attack. Jessie is left handcuffed to the couple’s bed with no escape, no means of communication, dwindling sunlight, a very hungry abandoned dog and what might or might not be demons from her past made real.

The thriller is being adapted for Netflix by Mike Flanagan (Oculus) from a script written by Flanagan, Stephen King and Jeff Howard (Ouija: Origin of Evil). The film is currently is post-production after starting filming late last year in Mobile, Alabama. The cast includes:

Carla Gugino (Watchmen/ San Andreas) as Jessie Burlingame.

Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek/ American Crime Story) as Gerald Burlingame

and Carel Struycken (Addams Family/ Star Trek: The Next Generation) in an unnamed role.

No premiere date has been given, but when it premieres, there will definitely be a review by me.
